Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt

Playing Tips

There's only one way to beat this game: practice, practice, PRACTICE. Run through the lower
levels until you know where everything is and can confidently finish them without losing more than a life or two. Did that? Great! Now it's time to stock up for your attack on the freezer. There is a way to earn unlimited lives in this game, but it's very tedious and time-consuming. If you want to have any chance at all in the freezer, though, it's well worth it. Interested? Read on:

Despite what the game magazines say, don't finish the bathroom until it's the only level left before the freezer. At that point, head for the bathroom and play as you normally like to until you reach the underwater level. Find a cat that spits out fish bones. Hover over its head and tromp each fish bone as it comes out. Soon you'll net 1600 pointsper fish bone; 32 of these are worth a 1-Up. (You get one every 50,000 points.) You'll hear a sound every time a 1-Up is scored. Keep this up until you have *at least* 70 lives. This may sound extreme, but trust me - you'll need 'em.

One very important caveat: do not, and I repeat do NOT, press Select to check your 1-Up tally any time while in the bathroom! There is a bug in the game that sometimes causes it to reset when Select is pressed in certain levels, notably the bathroom and the laboratory. This has happened to me and is *most* irksome. If you're that desperate to know how many reserves you have, just kill Pugsley and you'll see your 1-Up total upon starting your new character.

The freezer will test all your skills to the limit. Good luck!
